Big Medicine is an hour-long reality television show that examines the effects of bariatric surgery, both physical and emotional, on obese patients. It also chronicles the ordeals of the patients leading up to surgery.[1] The series airs Monday nights at 10:00 pm (ET) on TLC. An all-new season begins Wednesday, January 9 10PM/9C.[2]

Staff / cast

Big Medicine is taped at the Weight Management Center of The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Operating on the patients are the father and son surgical team of Dr. Robert Davis (father, a.k.a "Big D") and Dr. Garth Davis (son, a.k.a. "Little D"). Before the final determination to operate is reached, patients are examined psychologically by Psychotherapist Mary Jo Rapini. Often, patients with excess skin after their weight-loss is achieved will be referred to Dr. John LoMonaco, a plastic surgeon.[3]
